To become a Participant Member of OCP-IP, please complete and fax
the Membership Application (MA), which can be found online at
www.ocpip.org/membership/become. |
|
| 2: |
What benefits do I get from OCP-IP membership? |
| A: |
All Participant Members of OCP-IP have legal rights to use the
OCP specification, are assigned an official vendor identification
(VID) number and provided access to the organization’s quarterly
newsletter. A complete listing of benefits for all membership classes
is available at www.ocpip.org/membership/information. |

| 3: |
What is the relationship between VSIA and OCP-IP? |
| A: |
VSIA closed its doors effective early CY08 and OCP-IP continues
to be the steward of the now legacy and rather outdated OCB
standard.
|
|
| 4: |
How do I get all the same benefits of other OCP-IP
members? |
| A: |
Any ex-VSIA/Participant Member wishing to benefit more directly
from OCP-IP member products and services may upgrade their
membership. A complete listing of benefits for all membership classes
is available at www.ocpip.org/membership/information.To upgrade your
membership, contact admin@ocpip.org. |
|
| 5: |
How did OCP-IP and VSIA work together? |
| A: |
OCP-IP and VSIA collaborated on marketing promotional activities
relating to standard interfaces for block-based SoC design. The OCP
2.0 specification incorporated all essential features of VCI
technology to facilitate easy adoption as OCP provided a modern,
living and superceding alternative.
|
|
| 6: |
What is the cost of OCP-IP membership? |
| A: |
Participant Members may get rights to use the OCP Standard at no
annual cost. Any company wishing to get access to the full range of
OCP-IP benefits, support and services may secure these advantages in
the usual manner. |
|
| 7: |
Why did people join VSIA? |
| A: |
Note: VSIA closed its doors in CY08.
VSIA was an industry forum that addresses broad-based SoC design
issues. This afforded early access to a large range of discussions,
information and specifications that are relevant and important to the
SoC design community. |
|
| 8: |
Why did OCP-IP work with VSIA? |
| A: |
Collaboration between the two organizations established a single
common socket endorsed and promoted by the leading open industry
associations. |
|
| 9: |
Which ex-VSIA members would want to join OCP-IP? |
| A: |
All companies involved in the semiconductor industry and SoC
products would benefit from membership in OCP-IP, including
intellectual property (IP) providers, integrated device
manufacturers, and system companies or design houses. OCP-IP provides
a broad range of tools, services and support for the OCP Standard.
Combined with the extensive offerings of commercial providers, this
secures a low-cost yet world-class infrastructure for members of the
association. For an OCP-IP membership list, visit www.ocpip.org. |
|
| 10: |
How is OCP different from the VCI standards? |
| A: |
OCP and VCI are quite similar in capability and in philosophy.
Both are socket specifications. However, OCP is a well-adopted,
comprehensive and supported standard. It is a superset of all
essential features of VCI; in addition to data flow, OCP also handles
control and test flows. OCP IP provides not only the specification
and its member-driven evolution but also industrial grade tools and
services that ensure members can rapidly confirm compliance and
maximize their productivity. |
|
| 11: |
Why did VSIA want to work with OCP-IP? |
| A: |
VSIA believed that to secure strong adoption of specifications of
standards, it was essential that these documents be supported with
all the tools, products and services essential to make users
successful. OCP-IP had already established such an extensive
infrastructure and following. |
|
| 12: |
What was the benefit to the industry of OCP-IP and VSIA
working together? |
| A: |
Collaboration had established a uniform endorsement of a single
socket standard.
|
|
| 13: |
What if I want to continue using VCI? |
| A: |
OCP-IP has taken legal responsibility for the stewardship of VCI.
You may obtain copies of the existing VCI version from OCP-IP,
however this standard is outdated, has received no essential updates
for many years and has been superceded by OCP.
|
|
| 14: |
How do I get a copy of OCP? |
| A: |
The OCP Specification is freely available at www.ocpip.org. |
