Qualis Joins OCP-IP, Plans to Develop OCP Compliance
Checker for Leading Functional Verification Tools
PORTLAND, ORE. — July 29, 2002 — Open Core Protocol International
Partnership (OCP-IP) today announced that Qualis, Inc. has joined the
organization as a Community member. Qualis plans to extend its family of
Domain Verification Components™ (DVCs™) to support checking of intellectual
property blocks and system-on-chip (SOC) designs for compliance to the open
core protocol (OCP) industry-standard socket interface. The Qualis OCP DVC
will be used in conjunction with leading functional verification tools to
accelerate time-to-market for complex SOCs.
"Verification is a critical step in the SOC design process and we are
pleased to have Qualis on-board," said Ian Mackintosh, president of OCP-IP.
"Qualis has an outstanding reputation with top-tier customers such as Cisco,
Intel, HP, Nortel Networks, Texas Instruments, and PMC-Sierra for advanced
verification methodology consulting and training services. With SOC design
and verification complexity rising, Qualis should experience strong demand
for its OCP DVC technology."
"Our customers are looking to move to an industry-standard socket for their
IP and OCP is clearly gaining momentum in the market place," said Michael
Horne, CEO of Qualis. "To facilitate their adoption of the socket, customers
need a functional verification platform technology that leverages the power
of their chosen functional verification tool. Our forthcoming OCP DVC will
join our growing family of DVCs for core interconnect, networking, and
wireless designs, enabling designers to realize a huge productivity jump in
verifying OCP compliance in their complex SOCs. Our OCP DVC and our
customers' OCP-compliant IP blocks facilitate verification re-use which is
equally as important as design re-use given the size and complexity of
today's SOCs."

About OCP-IP
The OCP International Partnership Association, Inc. (OCP-IP) was formed in
December 2001 to promote and support the open core protocol (OCP) as the
complete socket standard that ensures rapid creation and integration of
interoperable virtual components. In addition to Sonics, Inc., the inventor
of the OCP technology, OCP-IP's founding members and initial Governing
Steering Committee participants are: Nokia [NYSE: NOK], Texas Instruments
[NYSE: TXN], MIPS Technologies [NasdaqNM: MIPS], and United Microelectronics
Corporation [NYSE: UMC]. OCP-IP is a non-profit corporation focused on
delivering the first fully supported, openly licensed core-centric protocol
that comprehensively fulfills system-level integration requirements. The OCP
facilitates IP core reusability and reduces design time and risk, along with
manufacturing costs for SOC designs.
