Welcome to the OCP-IP

Formed to promote and support OCP as the complete socket standard that ensures rapid creation and integration of interoperable virtual components.

Dear Visitor,

Welcome to the Open Core Protocol International Partnership (OCP-IP) Web site. Before you dive into the site, I would like to give you a brief introduction to the organization and an overview of what you'll find here.

OCP-IP is dedicated to proliferating a common standard for intellectual property (IP) core interfaces, or sockets, that facilitate "plug and play" System-on-Chip (SoC) design. Making complex SoC design more efficient for the widest audience, the industry strongly supports the Open Core Protocol as the universal complete socket standard, regardless of on chip architecture or which processor cores are featured. The benefits of a standard socket for SoC design are numerous and are discussed in several places on our site. If you are interested in becoming a member, please check out the Membership section where you'll find a description of membership categories, benefits and a printable application form.

OCP-IP's mission is to drive the OCP to become the most widely used and adopted socket interface for SoC design. OCP-IP provides the tools and services to its members that are necessary for convenient implementation, maintenance and support of the standard socket interface. Our mission is right in line with other industry standards organizations, but our focus is strictly on adoption and implementation of the OCP socket and plug and play SoC design methodology. We believe a standard is only proven through real-world implementations. Many of our founding members, companies with world-class SoC design expertise in their own right, have already adopted OCP and have used it in production SoC designs. For more information on the OCP socket, including a research use license, datasheets, and white papers, go to The Complete Socket section.

OCP-IP has much to offer its members. We give you the tools, training and technical support necessary to quickly begin making your IP cores OCP-compliant and ready for rapid SoC integration with other compliant third-party IP. We save you the significant time and R&D investment that would otherwise be required to maintain your own socket specification and tools. From our Members Only site, you can even request the CoreCreator® product for making legacy IP OCP-compliant.

As president of OCP-IP, I am excited by the value a standard socket holds for easing the process of SoC design for many companies. I stand ready and committed to serve you. I have a strong background working in and with industry standards organizations and have been involved in the semiconductor and ASIC worlds for more than 20 years. My number one objective is to make you successful in your IP socketization and SoC design endeavors. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require assistance or have any questions.
