Training

OCP-IP is committed to providing technical training and support to Members to ensure they minimize their adoption time and maximize their OCP learning experience. To this end, we provide a number of training products and services to our members:

OCP Specification Training: This course examines how socket standardization expedites design cycles and introduces the Open Core Protocol (“OCP”).  A case study of a hypothetical legacy core is also provided, illustrating the simplicity of conversion to OCP and the application of “core wrapping.”

The course is provided in PowerPoint format with an accompanying audio track and is ideal for self-education purposes; this is available free to all members. OCP-IP recommends that all engineers and students new to the OCP standard take the few hours required to familiarize themselves with this material.

If you have any questions regarding access to this training, please contact admin@ocpip.org.

CoreCreator® Training: This training class describes how the CoreCreator® tool can be used to prepare and verify IP core for compliance with the OCP specification.

Specifically, the course teaches how CoreCreator®: 1) Prepares, validates and characterizes IP blocks for integration into System-on-Chip designs. 2) Provides a graphical environment to connect and configure componentized blocks to ensure they deliver the desired functionality and comply with OCP requirements. 3) Provides a user-extensible design flow for preparing testbench stimulus, running HDL simulation, and analyzing simulation results. 4) Provides behavioral models, protocol checkers, and performance analysis tools for inclusion in the system.

The course is provided in PowerPoint format with an accompanying audio track and is ideal for self-education purposes; this is available free to all members. OCP-IP recommends that all engineers and students new to CoreCreator®, take the few hours required to familiarize themselves with this material.

If you have any questions regarding access to this training, please contact admin@ocpip.org.

Core Wrapping: This activity is described as an integral part of the “OCP Specification” training. More specifically, the material in this section discusses how to wrap an existing legacy core, beginning by matching OCP configurations to the native signal protocol patterns and signal widths. Next, you are directed how to select sideband signals and use the simplest OCP configuration that meets your requirements; often, this is just basic OCP plus MByte enabling or MBurst enabling. The entire system can be simulated using CoreCreator®.

Members may obtain their free copy of “OCP Specification” training (see above) to access these materials and review our complete Core Wrapping training. Any questions should be directed to admin@ocpip.org.

Other: OCP-IP is able to arrange on-site training courses for any company/group interested in bringing their engineers up to speed. Please contact admin@ocpip.org with questions about on-site training courses.
